JSON Compare Tool

Compare two JSON documents and find differences in keys, nested values and arrays.

Property order is ignored in objects. Array order matters. No automatic conversion of strings or numbers.

How to compare two JSON documents

Paste valid JSON into both boxes and select Compare JSON. The tool checks nested objects and arrays, showing paths such as $.profile.age or $.items[0]. It reports values that were added, removed or changed.

Example

Compare {"age":25} with {"age":26}. The report shows a changed value at $.age.

Limitations

This is a structural comparison, not a JSON Patch generator. Array items are compared by position, so inserting a new item may produce multiple changes. Extremely large or deeply nested inputs are rejected to keep the page responsive.

Practical example: Checking changed API settings

Compare two JSON objects such as {"retry":2} and {"retry":3,"debug":true}. Look for the changed retry setting and newly added debug field.

What to check before using the result

Object-field comparisons do not prove semantic compatibility between two APIs. Review array ordering and numeric types carefully.

Frequently asked question

Can this compare JSON with different whitespace?

Yes. It compares parsed JSON rather than the original indentation.
